Pivot Would be Indifferent

I’ve always wanted to answer that Bernard Pivot questionnaire from “Inside the Actors’ Studio.”  So I’m doing that.  Just imagine that you’ve watched about 50 minutes of me rambling on about moments in my career…then this!

  • What is your favorite word?
    • I don’t really have one, but if I’ve got to choose, right now, it’d be “euphemism.”
  • What is your least favorite word?
    • C*nt.  Especially when used toward a woman or in literature.  It’s just so bawdy…and it’s the one word that makes me uncomfortable to even type.
  • What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
    • Different things.  Sometimes a word or phrase will get stuck in my mind and it’ll cause me to write something, or sometimes I’ll have an experience and have to write about it.  But most often, it’s probably just seeing other musicians who do their job well…there’s nothing more inspiring than seeing someone do something and being impressed by it.
  • What turns you off?
    • People who think they’re the exception to the rules.
  • What is your favorite curse word?
    • I like “dammit” a lot…but if we’re going for pure eloquence, it’s “clusterf**k.”
  • What sound or noise do you love?
    • The sound of a light rain-shower, and/or the sound of an acoustic guitar…preferably the two together.
  • What sound or noise do you hate?
    • The sound of someone chewing loudly, especially if they’re not actually eating anything.
  • What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
    • I think I’d like to be a proper teacher…but college-age, not teens.
  • What profession would you not like to do?
    • Bathroom Attendant.
  • If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
    • Either “You did better than you think you did…” or “You’ll be seated at table 9 with Mr. Vonnegut and Mr. Carlin for dinner, then you can nap all you want.”
