My eyes feel like I’ve been pouring salt into them…

So I’m still sick.  I went home early yesterday thinking I’d get some extra sleep, but it didn’t take.  Also, last night I went to bed and couldn’t get to sleep because of my cold making me unable to breathe every time I laid down.  (Wait…is it laid?  lied?  …lay?)  😦  …every time I made myself horizontal.  Let’s go with that.

So…I’m now at work.  It’s the coldest day of the year (so far) and I’m sitting here, on absolutely NO sleep, with a cold (and I think a slight fever).  I’m absolutely miserable, and I’m almost tempted to call in a bomb threat just to be able to close down for a couple of hours…but then I’d go to prison.  So we’ll avoid that.  I have too much to do this week to go to prison.

Speaking of which, I think this cold is my penance for being overconfident going into the gig this weekend.  I’ve been really confident to the point that I’m not worried, and I’m ALMOST cocky about it.  So I think the good Lord decided to strike me down, just to remind me of what’s what.  NOW I’m worried.  What if I get worse?  What if I can’t sing?  What if I’m on stage and the lights get to be too much and I pass out?

…and what about…Naomi?  (Ten points if you got that reference.)

Anyway, if you’re a praying person, I’d appreciate a prayer for my health, particularly as it applies to the gig this weekend.  I really want it to be as good as I know it CAN be.  Also, I’m tired of feeling like hell and I need to get some sleep…so if you could also pray that I’ll get to go home early today, that’d be great, too.  🙂  (And remember, the Lord helps those who help themselves…so if you can arrange for, I don’t know, a major power-outage that only effects our campus or something, I think I cam safely say that Jesus won’t mind.)

Blasphemy’s awesome…and speaking of which…

George W. Bush Picture of the Day (5 days remaining in term):

You know that old saying, “It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it?”  Apparently it applies to hands, too…

I posted this picture in a thread on a message board when the whole “Obama didn’t put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem at a fish fry!” debacle was going down.  One of the other posters said something to the effect of, “Oh come on.  He’s the leader of the free world.  If he needs to rub out a fart, I say let him.”   🙂

  1. no comments lately… 😦 doesn’t mean i don’t read your blog more faithfully than my personal Bible. (working on that, though)
sorry you’re sick. but i think i got you beat, being almost deathly allergic to mountain cedar pollen. incidentally, there are 5 mountain cedars in my front lawn currently trying to spread their little soldiers out into the world.
i do hope your gig goes well. i’m still bummed that i’ve never seen you perform…

  2. It’s weird that everyone always posts on the same day… 🙂

    In reverse order:

    1. Thanks Nik…now that’s all I can think about! 🙂

    2. 10 points to Jim for the reference, and an additional 10 bonus points for the awesome link!

    3. Thanks for the well-wishes, Angela. I hope your trees don’t kill you…and don’t feel too bad about reading my blog more than your Bible. The Bible hasn’t been changed in 1000+ years, whereas my blog is updated daily. (And…I’m going to Hell for that…and some other things…but also for that…)
